Tenders are invited for Consultant for Climate Change and Agroecology Awareness Workshops for Farmers in Akkar. Mada is recruiting a qualified consultant to design and facilitate a participatory awareness workshop on climate change and agroecology under the project entitled Strengthening the Resilience of Vulnerable Women, Young Adults, and Men in Lebanon through Livelihood Improvement and Increased Food Security, funded by the German Cooperation (BMZ) and implemented by Mada Association in partnership with arche nova. The project supports the transition to agroecology and improves access to food by strengthening the resilience of vulnerable women, young adults, and men in Lebanon. It aims to build more resilient, economically stable, and food-secure communities by addressing livelihood and food security challenges through a comprehensive approach. The awareness workshop will specifically target farmers in Fneidek Akkar and will raise understanding of local climate change impacts, promote agroecological practices as practical solutions, and build knowledge on drought-resistant varieties and basic flood management practices. The workshops will be participatory, including group work, to ensure farmers share experiences and learn practical strategies for climate resilience. Each session will be conducted with up to 32 farmers, with a total of 8 sessions. Main tasks and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following: Conduct a preparatory meeting with Madas technical team to define workshop objectives and gather background information. Design 2-hour workshop agendas with participatory elements, including short presentations, group work, and plenary discussion. Develop workshop materials in Arabic, including slides, handouts, and group work guides. Facilitate each workshop in Fneidek, engaging participants through interactive presentations and group exercises on: Local climate change impacts (rainfall variability, temperature changes, altered cropping calendars). Agroecology as a practical solution for climate adaptation. Drought-resistant varieties and their value proposition. Flooding risks and basic on-farm mitigation measures. Moderate group work sessions to allow farmers to share experiences, identify challenges, and explore feasible agroecological practices. Incorporate feedback from Madas technical team iteratively during preparation and after each session. Final deliverables: Workshop Agendas and Materials Detailed 2-hour workshop agenda including group work and plenary discussion. Workshop materials (slides, handouts, visual aids) in Arabic. Simplified Field Brief A 2 pages brief for Mada staff and farmers summarizing key messages, practical climate-smart and agroecological practices for local use. Timeline: The consultant is expected to prepare and submit workshop agenda within 5 calendar days and materials within 10 calendar days of the approval of the agenda. The workshops will be conducted in Fneidek in eight sessions within two weeks after content finalization, each with up to 32 farmers, followed by the submission of the post-workshop report and within one week after the final session. Required qualifications and experience: University degree in agriculture, environmental sciences, climate change, agroecology or related fields or minimum 5 years in conducting similar activities on climate change. Proven experience in climate change, agroecology, or climate-smart agriculture. Experience in participatory facilitation and group work with farmers or rural communities. Knowledge of the agricultural context and climate challenges in North Lebanon/Akkar. Strong communication and facilitation skills in Arabic. How to apply Please send an email to
