The Ministry Of Forests, Archaeology Branch (Ab, The Branch), Invites Interested Parties To Submit Proposals For The Creation Of Portions Of The Standards And Guidelines For Archaeological Activities In British Columbia. The Anticipated Term Of This Project Is March 1, 2026, To September 30, 2027.The Archaeology Branch Is Undertaking A Major Update And Consolidation Of Technical Guidance For Archaeological Activities In B.C.: The Standards And Guidelines Project (S&G Project). Existing Materials—Including The Archaeological Impact Assessment (Aia) Guidelines (Last Revised In 1998), Archaeological Overview Assessments (Aoas), And Multiple Directive Bulletins—Are Outdated And Fragmented, Resulting In Inconsistent Fieldwork, Cost Variability, And Relationship Challenges Among First Nations, Proponents, And Government Agencies. The S&G Project Is A Collaboration Between The Successful Proponent And The Ministry Of Forests With Project Components Delivered By The Ministry Of Forests As Well As By The Retained Contractor.
