Tenders are invited for Installation of PWD-Accessible Passenger Elevator. 1. Background The MAKANI programme, supported by UNICEF, aims to ensure safe, inclusive, and accessible learning and protection spaces for children, adolescents, and caregivers, including persons with disabilities (PWDs). In line with UNICEFs commitment to inclusivity and universal access, the implementing partner, the René Moawad Foundation intends to install a passenger elevator in a MAKANI center to ensure full accessibility to all floors. This tender document invites qualified and experienced elevator contractors to submit technical and financial offers for the supply, installation, testing, and maintenance of a PWD-accessible passenger elevator. ________________________________________ 2. Objectives of the Tender Ensure safe and barrier-free access to the MAKANI center for children, caregivers, and PWDs Comply with UNICEF accessibility, child safeguarding, and safety standards Install a reliable, durable, and easy-to-maintain elevator system ________________________________________ 3. Scope of Work The successful bidder shall be responsible for the turnkey execution of the elevator installation, including but not limited to: 3.1 General & Preliminaries Site assessment and verification of measurements Preparation of shop drawings and method statements Coordination with the implementing partner- the René Moawad Foundation, UNICEF, and relevant authorities Compliance with Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and child safeguarding requirements 3.2 Elevator Supply & Installation Supply and installation of a PWD-accessible passenger elevator Minimum capacity: 6301000 kg (813 persons) Minimum internal cabin dimensions: 1100 x 1400 mm Automatic center-opening doors with minimum clear opening of 900 mm Non-slip, child-safe flooring Handrails and mirrors suitable for wheelchair users 3.3 Accessibility & Control Features Car and landing operating panels with Braille and tactile buttons Buttons installed at accessible height (9001200 mm) Audible floor announcements and visual indicators Emergency alarm and two-way intercom system 3.4 Civil, Structural & Finishing Works Elevator shaft preparation or modification Construction of elevator pit including waterproofing Fire-rated doors and compliant finishes Making good and reinstatement of all affected areas 3.5 Electrical & Safety Works Dedicated power supply and earthing Emergency lighting and battery-backed rescue system Overspeed governor, buffers, and safety gear 3.6 Testing, Commissioning & Handover Full testing and commissioning of the elevator Third-party inspection and certification Submission of as-built drawings and O&M manuals 3.7 Warranty & Maintenance Minimum 1224 months warranty Preventive maintenance for a minimum of one (1) year ________________________________________ 4. Technical Standards & Compliance The elevator and all associated works shall comply with international standards - Universal design and accessibility principles - UNICEF child safeguarding and Do-No-Harm principles - Local regulations and safety requirements ________________________________________ 5. Deliverables The contractor shall provide: - Approved shop drawings and method statements - Installed and fully operational elevator - Testing and safety certification - O&M manuals and warranty documents - Training completion confirmation ________________________________________ 6. Eligibility & Contractor Qualifications Interested bidders must: - Be a legally registered company - Have a minimum of 35 years of proven experience in elevator installation - Demonstrate experience with accessibility-compliant or institutional projects - Provide references for similar works - Have qualified technical and safety personnel ________________________________________ 7. General Conditions The implementing partner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all offers. UNICEF branding and visibility requirements shall be respected.
