Work Detail
Collaborate With Aleza Lake Research Forest (Alrf) On A Project To Simulate Drought Resilience At The Stand-Level With Various Silviculture Treatments And Climate Change Projections. Contract Funding, If Approved, Would Contribute To Salary For A University Of Northern Bc Post-Doc To Lead The Work. Modelling Will Be Done In The Forest Vegetation Simulator – Bc Variant (Fvs-Bc) And Run Using Existing Stand Information In Alrf As Well As The Ministry’S Forest Drought Risk Assessment Tool (Fordrat). The Effects Of Different Treatments (E.G. Thinning, Species Selection) On Current And Future Drought Resilience Will Be Tested. If Successful, The Work May Be Expanded To Prince George Timber Supply Area (Tsa) Permanent Sample Plots As Well As Bring In Other Climate Change-Forest Health Impacts Such As Wildfire And Pests/Diseases.
