Work Detail
Architectural, Construction, Engineering And Inspection Services – Municipal Road G1-101 (Ch) / State Road L44 (A), Widnau (Ch) / Lustenau (A): Rhein Wiesenrain Bridge, Overall Repair. The Wiesenrain Rhine Bridge Represents A Historical Connection Over The Rhine Between The Communities Of Widnau (Ch) And Lustenau (A). The Steel Bridge Was Built In 1912/1913 And Currently Has A Useful Life Of 112 Years. The Five-Span Bridge Is One Of The Last Riveted Half-Timbered Structures In The Vorarlberg / Eastern Switzerland Area And Is Therefore Extremely Rare. It Is A Listed Building In Both Parts Of The Country. The Condition Is Classified As Very Poor, Although This Primarily Refers To The Damaged Lower Chords, Where The Corrosion Processes Are Progressing. A Preliminary Study From 2024/2025 Has Defined Two Possible Implementation Variants (Repair Or Demolition/New Construction). Because Of The Existing Protection Status Of The Historically Significant Bridge, The Preservation Of The Structure Should Be Pursued As A Priority. The Bridges Technical Feasibility For Renovation Could Be Verified. The Rhesi Project Affects The Overall Repair Of The Bridge. This Means That It Has To Meet The Hydrological Framework Conditions Of The Rhesi Project, Which Results In The Bridge Being Raised. This Also Affects The Foreshore And Forecourts Of The Customs Offices On Both Sides Of The Bridge, As Well As The Pillars And Abutments. The Engineering Services To Be Provided For The Overall Repair Of The Rhine Wiesenrain Bridge Project Consist Of The Following Parts: * The Services To Be Provided Include The Phases Of Project Planning, Tendering And Implementation; * Planning And Supervision Of Any Necessary Condition And Material Technology Investigations Including Interpretation Of The Results, As Well As Any Necessary Preliminary Tests Depending On The Repair Variant; * Concept Of Measures For Repairs, Taking Into Account The Requirements Of Monument Preservation (Preservation Of The Existing Building As Far As Possible, Upgrading Where Necessary), Whereby The Complete Corrosion Protection Must Be Comprehensively Renewed; * Conversion And Replacement Of The Existing Concrete Road Slab To A Lightweight Road Slab. Materialization And Design Variants Must Be Examined In The Variant Study; * Raising The Bridge Including Any Reinforcement Of The Supporting System, Pillars And Abutments, As Well As Necessary Adjustments To The Foreshore On Both Sides; * All Parts Of The Structure Are Affected, Including Sealing, Coverings, Road Crossings, Bearings, Control Devices / Railings, Service Lines And Any Service Line Relocations Or Adjustments To The Actual Bridge, As Well As Structures That Are Affected By The Elevation; * New Bridge Drainage. Planning In Accordance With The Provisions Of Austrian And Swiss Water Law Including Implementation Of The Respective Official Procedures Road And Environmental Adaptations Including Road Drainage Planting; * Traffic Management And Associated Measures During The Construction Period; * Developing The Necessary Documents For Permits From Both Countries. The Service Description Is Based On The “Regulations For Services And Fees Of Construction Engineers”.
