Nuclear energy presents both significant opportunities and challenges in the context of sustainable development, energy security, and climate change mitigation. In view of these potential benefits, the World Bank Group (WBG) has recently started re-engaging in the nuclear energy sector. As the WBG has not supported a nuclear energy project since 1959, internal capacity to identify and assess the environmental and social (E&S) risks specific to nuclear energy generation is limited. Recognizing the environmental and social (E&S) risks associated with nuclear energy, the World Bank Group (WBG) aims to develop, and is seeking a Consultant Firm (the Consultant) to produce a Good Practice Note on E&S risk management on Long-Term Operations (LTO) and Refurbishment of Existing Nuclear Energy Facilities.
