Tenders are invited for Envision Battery Unit ESA Contract Number 4000146265 Price Range 500 KEURO Reference E/0443-01 - EnVision Development EnVision is a Venus orbiter mission selected by ESAs Science Programme Committee as the fifth Medium-class mission in the Agencys Cosmic Vision plan. It will be the first mission to investigate Venus from its inner core to its upper atmosphere, characterising the interaction between its atmosphere, surface/subsurface and interior. It aims at providing a holistic view of Venus, studying the planets history, activity, and climate. An overview of the EnVision mission and its objectives can be found on the Agency website here: https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/EnVision_factsheet. Thales Alenia Space Italia (TAS-I) is issuing this ITT as EnVision Prime Contractor, and conducting the procurement under the principles of ESA Best Practices for the selection of subcontractors. TAS-I will release an Invitation To Tender for the procurement of the Battery. The Envision Battery unit consists of all electrical components which allow the energy storage and the cells balancing if needed, supports the voltage monitoring and the thermal control, and includes also the mechanical parts used for the structure and fixing, It implements the necessary internal wiring and outside connectors to interface, via the system harness, with the PCDU and EGSE. The Battery stores the surplus of energy generated by the SAA during the sunlight and releases it both in eclipse and when enough power is not available from the primary source. It is connected directly with the main bus and sets its voltage range in PCDU which controls the charging and discharging level. The required primary aim is to have a battery based on high density Li-ion cells with performant rate, preferably inherited and qualified components or, if really more performant, cells in the development and in the qualification activities process which are expected to be in line at least with system project objective Tender Link : https://esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int/nonEsaTenderActions/filter/open
