Expression of Interest for Suriname: SURGE Quality Training and Certification Readiness Program SURGE (Surinames Growth Enterprises) is a program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation with funding by the World Bank supporting the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Suriname through business development services and matching grants. Many SURGE-supported companies have identified quality improvement and certification as pivotal to reaching higher-value markets and customers. Within this context, the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) sector encompassing businesses in arts, crafts, design, fashion, media, tourism and other cultural products is a priority for development. CCI firms contribute to economic diversification and cultural heritage, but they often face unique challenges in meeting international quality standards while preserving creative authenticity.
