Tenders are invited for 6G Network Emulator for Non-Geostationary Satellite Constellation (Artes 4.0 Spl 5g/6g 3f.043) - Expro plus. Open Date: 11/12/2025 17:42 CET Closing Date: 06/03/2026 13:00 CET The objective of the activity is to design, develop, and test a software-based demonstrator that shall allow to perform comprehensive trade-offs among new 6G network features optimised and adapted to NGSO systems.Targeted Improvements:Enable the network topology and protocol stack functional split of 6G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) systemsDescription: In the frame of Low Earth Orbit based 5G systems, it has been highlighted that the 5G gNodeB protocol functions and the available splits (e.g., the Centralised Unit, the Distributed Unit, and the Radio Unit) have not been optimised for such Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) systems, where very particular architectural characteristics, mobility aspects, latency constraints, and on-board hardware are determining some limitations. The activity shall design, develop, and test a software-based demonstrator to allow for comprehensive trade-offs analysis between the whole range of new possible concepts for regenerative payload, allowing 6G access node functionalities from space. The activitywill- critically review the current 5G protocol stack split and highlight the main constraints over NGSO systems;- investigate alternative network topologies and protocol stack optimisation to overcome these NTN limitations;- identify the proper packet/networksimulator and the specific technical requirements;- implement and test this intended software tool;- evaluate the main beneficialimpacts of the new 6G NTN architecture and network functions.
