The Object Of The Competition Is The Proposal Of A Network Of Unification And Highlighting Of Thessalonikis Monuments, Which Will Form A Coherent Network Of Cultural Places Within The Urban Fabric Of The City. This Integration Aims At The Functional, Aesthetic And Experiential Connection Of The Monuments With Each Other, So That They Become More Visible, Accessible And Recognizable To Both Residents And Visitors. The Achievement Of These Goals Will Be Carried Out Through: • Walks And Recreations Of The Surrounding Area Of The Monuments. • Placement Of Signage, Information And Lighting, Which Will Enhance Their Legibility • Creation Of Green Routes And Strengthening Of Urban Greenery, With The Aim Of Improving The Microclimate And Integrating Bioclimatic Principles Into Planning. The Functional And Aesthetic Integration Of The Network Should Take Into Account: • The Historicity And Multi-Layered Identity Of The City. • The Current Institutional Framework For The Protection And Promotion Of Monuments. • The Principles Of Accessibility, Sustainability And Inclusion. • The Need For Environmental Upgrading, Sustainable Mobility And Resilience Of The Urban Environment. The Competition Will Be Developed On Two Planning Scales: 1. Urban Planning Scale (Masterplan): The Main Integration Axes Of The Monuments, Connections With Public Spaces, Transport Hubs And Green Networks Will Be Determined. The Zones Of Influence Of The Monuments, Their Relations With The Urban Fabric And The Promotion Strategies Will Be Highlighted. 2. Scale Of Urban Planning - Architecture: Interventions Will Be Specialized In The Selected Areas Around The Monuments, With A Selection Of Appropriate Materials, Lighting, Urban Equipment And Signage, As Well As Interventions That Will Improve Accessibility And The Microclimate Of These Areas.
