Construction Work – Upgrading The Expansion Of The Winterthur Art Museum. The Extension Was Planned As A Temporary Structure For The Art Museum On Behalf Of And Owned By The Winterthur Art Association And Was Completed In 1996. It Is A Steel Frame Building, The Shell Of Which Is Insulated And Clad On All Sides - In The Area Of The Exhibition Floor With Profilit Glass And In The Area Of The Roof And The Walkway With Large-Format, Galvanized Steel Sheets. It Was Discovered On Site That Screws With Which The Sheet Steel Cladding Was Screwed To The Substructure Were Loosening In Certain Places. Sondage Has Shown That The Wooden Battens (Rear Ventilation Level) That Were Installed At The Time Were Getting Old And Should Therefore Be Replaced. The Plan Is To Dismantle The Existing, Large-Format Steel Sheets, Store Them Temporarily And Replace The Damaged Wooden Slats With Weather-Resistant Metal Profiles Of The Same Format. The Existing Steel Sheets Will Be Reassembled At The Original Location, So That Nothing Changes To The External Appearance Of The Extension. The Existing Roofing Membrane And The Existing Putty Joints Will Also Be Checked And, If Necessary, Repaired Or Replaced. The Side Cladding Of The Sheds And Flat Roof Will Also Be Checked And The Substructure Repaired Or Replaced If Necessary. The Same Approach Is Planned For The Passerelle, Which Forms The Transition To The Listed Museum Building By Rittmeyer & Furrer From 1916. Here, The Three Existing Skylight Domes Will Also Be Replaced By New, Thermally Insulated Domes (Thermal Insulating Glazing With Dome). The Planned, Minimal Repair Work Will Not Change The Current Geometry Of The Sheds And The Passerelle. This Allows Us To Reuse The Existing Galvanized Steel Sheets - Which Are Still In Good Condition - In The Interests Of Sustainability And Cost Minimization. The Lighting Inside The Building Is Being Renewed. The Existing Pl Lighting, With Lighting Fixtures Created Specifically For The Shed Geometry, Is To Be Replaced By Very High-Quality Led Lighting - With The Function: Dimmable White. The Existing Lighting Fixtures Must Be Dismantled And Adjustment Work Carried Out. The Modified Lighting Fixtures Are Then Reassembled. The Control And Cabling Will Be Adapted To The New Technology. The Color Rendering Must Meet The Highest Requirements For A Museum Building And Exhibition Operation. Small Repair Work On The Plastering And Painting Work Will Also Be Carried Out.
