Expression of Interest for Assessing the Implementation of the Sadc Water, Energy and Food (Wef) Nexus Guidelines in the Zambezi Watercourse Consultancy Services The objective of this assignment is to assess the extent, effectiveness, and outcomes of the implementation of the SADC Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Operational Guidelines in the Zambezi Watercourse, with a view to identifying gaps, challenges, best practices, and opportunities for improved integrated resource management and policy coherence across the riparian states. The specific tasks to be carried out by the Consultant in the Zambezi Watercourse Riparian States shall include the following. i) Evaluate the current status of WEF Nexus mainstreaming in national and regional policies, strategies, and plans of Zambezi River Basin countries. ii) Assess institutional coordination and governance mechanisms for integrated WEF Nexus implementation at national and transboundary levels. iii) Identify and document WEF Nexus-related programs and projects implemented in the Zambezi basin, their alignment with the SADC WEF Nexus guidelines, and their effectiveness. iv) Analyze capacity needs, financing mechanisms, and stakeholder participation in Nexus implementation, including the role of River Basin Organizations (RBOs), government institutions, private sector, and civil society. v) Identify barriers, challenges, and enabling factors that affect the adoption and implementation of the WEF Nexus approach in the basin. vi) Propose recommendations and action points to enhance the effective application of the WEF Nexus guidelines in the Zambezi Watercourse. vii) Propose two pilots community level initiatives [Disclaimer: The above text is machine translated.
