Architectural And Related Services – Realization Competition For The New Haus Der Jugend Südkreuz Building, Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The Subject Of The Competition Is The Design For The New Building Of The Haus Der Jugend Am Südkreuz On Parcel 4/11 At Werner-Voß-Damm 47 In The Tempelhof-Schöneberg District. The Property Has A Size Of 1,188 M2 And Is Well Developed Due To Its Inner-City Location, In The Immediate Vicinity Of The Südkreuz Train Station. The Undeveloped Property Is Located Between The Garden City Of Neu-Tempelhof (Also Known As The Aviation Settlement Since The Time Of National Socialism) In The East, The Hansakorso Allotment Garden In The South, The Berliner Wasserbetriebe Industrial Area In The West And The Former, Listed Barracks Complex General-Pape-Straße In The North. The Tempelhof-Schöneberg Youth Welfare Office Is Planning A New Building On The Site That Will Accommodate The Two Youth Facilities Drugstore And Potse, Which Have Existed For Decades. The Drugstore And The Potse Are The Oldest Self-Managed Youth Centers In Berlin, The History Of Which Goes Back To The 1970S. For Many Years, Both Youth Centers Were Located In Rooms On The First Floor Of The Building At Potsdamer Strasse 180. Drugstore Had To Vacate The Location In 2018, Potse In 2021. With The House Of Youth, Drugstore And Potse Should Once Again Have A Common, Permanent Place In The District That Is Tailored To Their Needs. Both Collectives Are Currently Temporarily Housed In The Rockhaus Lichtenberg And Potsdammer Straße 134-136 Or The Tempelhofer Zollgarage. What Both Youth Centers Have In Common Is That They Are Voluntary, Grassroots Collectives That Create Low-Threshold Opportunities For Teenagers And Young Adults To Develop Freely With A Connection To The Punk Scene. In Addition To Concerts And Parties That Attract Teenagers And Young Adults From All Over Berlin, A Variety Of Other Activities Take Place In The Youth Centers. Particular Attention Is Paid To The Topic Of Participatory Youth Work. The Youth Work Offerings Consist Of Involvement And Participation Projects, Creative And Art Workshops, Cultural, Political And Intercultural Educational Events, Advisory Services And Gender-Sensitive Youth Work. The Spatial Program Therefore Provides For Multifunctional, Usable Spaces For Self-Organized Youth Cultural Work Events. Event Rooms, Offices, Consultation Rooms, A Library, Rehearsal Rooms And A Workshop Are Planned. The New Building Of The “Haus Der Jugend” Is Intended To Create An Inclusive Place In Which The Various Institutions Work Together Under One Roof. Common Access And Communication Areas Should Provide Space For Informal Exchange And Create Synergies Between The Different Users. In Connection With The Creation Of The Needs Program, Two Participation Workshops Took Place With Representatives Of The Future Users (The Drugstore And Potse Collectives).
