Organization Of Architectural Design Contests – Competition Support. The Town Hall Parking Garage Was Also Built With The Mainz Town Hall. The Parking Garage Was Built On What Was Then Halleplatz. The New Hall Square Was Built On The Roof Of The Parking Garage And Was Renamed Jockel-Fuchs-Platz After Jakob Jockel Fuchs On March 6, 2003. The Design Of The Square, Like The Town Hall, Was Designed By The Architect Arne Jacobsen. Jockel-Fuchs-Platz Became Part Of The Monument Zone At The Town Hall. The Design Of The Jockel-Fuchs-Platz Has Been Considered In Various Recent Competitions: Ideas Competitions As Part Of The Renovation Of The Town Hall, Planning Of The Outside Staircase As Part Of The Expansion Of The Rhein-Goldhalle (Not Carried Out For Cost Reasons), The Ideas Competition For The Town Hall Bridge (Ministry Of Finance And Building Of Rhineland-Palatinate). Due To The Central And Representative Location Right Next To The Town Hall, Citizen Participation In The Redesign Of Jockel-Fuchs-Platz Was Carried Out In 2024/25. Citizens And Experts Worked Together To Develop Target Images That Should Be Taken Into Account When Planning The Square. Jockel-Fuchs-Platz Is Intended To Become A Climate-Friendly And Socially Just Meeting Place That Represents The State Capital Mainz. In Order To Implement The Results Of Citizen Participation And All Technical And Professional Requirements That Exist For The Square Into Qualitative, Sustainable Planning, The Points Developed Should Be Considered In A Planning Competition, Which Will Be Used To Commission A Bidder To Implement The Measure In The Best Possible Way.
