It Is Necessary To Acquire A Molecular Interaction Analyzer Using Surface Plasmon Resonance Or Spr (Surface Plasmon Resonance). This Type Of Technology Allows The Analysis Of Molecular Interactions In Real Time Without The Need To Use Any Type Of Labeling (Radioactivity, Fluorescence, Etc.). This Type Of Technology Does Not Exist At The University Of The Balearic Islands (Uib). This Spr Equipment Will Require Computer Control, Which Implies That It Is Necessary To Provide The Computer Equipment Described In The Ppt. Spr Is A Powerful Analytical Technique That Can Be Applied To The Study Of Different Aspects In A Variety Of Areas Of Knowledge. Its Main Application Is The Study Of Biomolecular Interactions. Below Are Some Of The Main Applications In Which Uib Research Groups Would Be Interested: 1.-Kinetic Analysis Of Biomolecular Interactions: Spr Technology Can Be Used To Analyze The Kinetics Of Interactions Between Biomolecules. Therefore, It Can Be Used To Study The Affinity, Binding Kinetics (Association And Dissociation Constants) And Specificity Between Biomolecules Such As Proteins, Peptides Or Nucleic Acids And Small Molecules. 2.-Evaluation Of Possible Drugs: Typically, Spr Analysis Has Been Widely Used For The Discovery And Study Of Low Molecular Weight Molecules With Pharmacological Potential. By Analyzing The Binding Kinetics And Affinity Of Small Molecules Or Compounds Towards Their Protein Receptors, Compounds That Present The Desired Binding Characteristics To A Therapeutic Target Can Be Identified. This Fact Accelerates The Drug Discovery And Development Process. 3.-Characterization Of Protein-Protein, Protein-Lipid And Protein-Nucleic Acid Interactions: Spr Technology Has Been Widely Used By The Scientific Community To Quantify The Affinity And Specificity Of This Type Of Interactions, A Fact That Provides Information On The Molecular Mechanisms That Control Biological Processes. Within Protein-Protein Interactions, The Antigen-Antibody Interaction Must Be Kept In Mind, Which Is Studied Not Only In Basic And Applied Immunological Research, But Also In The Development And Optimization Of Vaccines. Finally, The Protein-Nucleic Acid Interaction Is Studied In Genetic Research And Development Of Gene Therapies. 4.- Investigation Of Molecular Interactions Of Interest In Biotechnology: In Addition To The Interest Aroused By Research In The Interaction Of Biomolecules Or The Characterization Of Interactions Of Pharmacological Interest, Interactions Of Interest In The Biotechnology Field Should Also Be Considered, Such As The Interaction Of Specific Proteins Or Enzymes With Plastic Polymers (Polypropylene, Polyethylene And Polystyrene) And With Other Synthetic Derivatives Present In The Environment As Pesticides.
