Descriptionsør-Varanger Municipality (Municipality No. 5605) Has A Need For Increased Capacity Of Rental Housing That Can Meet The Needs Of Newly Recruited Labour, The Elderly And Other Disadvantaged People. The Municipality And Other Public Actors See A Potential In Collaboration Between The Municipality, The Armed Forces, Hospitals And The Police To Ensure Access To Housing Which Also Promotes Belonging To A Place. The Project Is Based On A National And Local Recognition That The Provision Of Housing Can Be A Joint Effort That Requires Knowledge Of Forms Of Cooperation And Room For Action. The Aim Is To Develop Knowledge And Models That Make It Possible To Combine Public Needs Without Undermining A Well-Functioning Housing Market. The Aim Is To Explore How Housing Can Be Planned And Organized With A Community Profile In Order To Strengthen Social Relations And Belonging. The Project Will Also Assess Principles For Integration Into The Existing Local Environment And Avoid Isolated Housing Concentrations. The Work Is Anchored In A Pilot Project With A Broadly Composed Management And Project Group Involving Key Local And Regional Actors. The Acquisition Of External Expertise Is Part Of Providing A Decision-Making Basis And Recommendations That Are Relevant Both Locally And For Other Municipalities.
