Remote Camera Monitoring Enhances Caribou Conservation Efforts By Providing Valuable Data For Monitoring Population Demographics, Mapping Distribution And Habitat Use And Providing Information Towards Estimating Population Size. Strategically Placed Remote Cameras Across Focal Caribou Ranges And Habitats Enable Data Collection On Individual Caribou And Their Behavior Without Disturbance. Images Are Used To Identify Fates Of Collared Caribou, Track Movements, Monitor Reproductive Success, And Assess Calf Recruitment Rates And Provide Additional Data For Estimates Of Population Size And Trends While Also Informing Subsequent Conservation Planning And Management Decisions. This Project Will Ensure Data Collected Over The Past Number Of Years In The Little Smoky Range And Newly Deployed Camera Grids Will Provide Essential Information On Both The Impacts Of Predator Management Actions And Population Status Of Caribou And Alternative Prey Species.
