Expression of Interest for Fluvial Logistics Consulting for a Project in the Amazon The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is seeking consulting services to conduct a strategic fluvial logistics study for a logistics company based in Manaus, Brazil. The objective is to develop a comprehensive market and operational analysis to identify efficient, viable, sustainable, and scalable fluvial logistics solutions, with a focus on reducing dependence on third-party vessels and mitigating the impacts of extreme climatic variations, such as floods and droughts. The assignment will include a detailed market study to map the current structure of the fluvial logistics sector in the region, leveraging on the Companys databases and gathering additional required information on the current situation of multimodal and fluvial logistics services in the Amazon region (inter alia: types of cargo, volumes, vessels and infrastructure), and identify critical bottlenecks and challenges, both commercial and technical/navigational. Based on this assessment, the consultant will propose a technically, operationally, and financially feasible model to allow the Companys expansion with a 10-year timeframe. In addition, the consultant will prepare a detailed implementation plan for the recommended model, including a timeline, estimations on Opex and Capex, technical specifications, and an execution strategy, with a view toward a future pilot phase. The client company operates through a digital platform that connects suppliers, carriers, and end customers, with a strong presence in both the largest urban areas and remote regions of the Amazon, focusing on traceability, connectivity, and efficiency in long-haul and last-mile fluvial transport. Company qualifications Interested companies must demonstrate experience and competencies in the following areas: Minimum of 10 years of experience in fluvial logistics projects, including strategic and technical assessments for fleet structuring and multimodal operations. Mandatory experience in Brazil, with direct involvement in analysis and implementation of fluvial logistics projects in the Amazon region. Proven experience in similar projects for private companies and multilateral institutions. Access to a multidisciplinary team with minimum expertise in: i. Market analysis in fluvial and multimodal logistics sectors; ii. Business model development for the multimodal logistics sector and specifically for fluvial logistics; iii. Naval and civil engineering; iv. Finance and corporate risk management; v. Public policy and infrastructure planning; At least one senior specialist fluent in Portuguese, able to participate in meetings with stakeholders. If not available, the company must explain how effective communication in Portuguese will be ensured. Excellent written and verbal communication in Portuguese and English.
