Expression of Interest for Data Collection for Designing Resilient Low-Traffic Neighborhoods in Perus Cities Perus National Sustainable Urban Transport Program (PROMOVILIDAD) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has prioritized actions to improve urban mobility in several cities through comprehensive projects with a focus on sustainability. The Intermediate Cities Program (hereinafter, the Program) includes the implementation of exclusive lanes, bus stops, road rehabilitation, expansion of bike lanes, etc., in accordance with the programs priorities and the commitments of subnational authorities in each territory. Component 2 of the Program includes the development of Traffic Calming Zones (TCZ), which seek to transform neighborhood-scale mobility networks and street design to create public spaces for permanent residence, improve accessibility and local connectivity, increase road safety, and strengthen the resilience of green infrastructure. The interventions are grouped within the framework of a superblock. Interventions included in the TCZs include sidewalk widening, road leveling, undergrounding of networks, installation of street furniture, tree planting and creation of soft surfaces, installation of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS), provision of public transport stops and bicycle parking, and installation of traffic lights, among others. TCZs require the redesign of public road space to accommodate vehicular transportation infrastructure elements, including mixed-use and bus-only lanes, loading and unloading zones, bike lanes, pedestrian crossings, and safe intersections with their refuge areas, turns, and accumulation areas. They also include landscaping and drainage elements, street furniture, and areas for permanence and commercial and cultural activity. The objective of this consultancy is to carry out Basic Studies (field data collection) in four citiesArequipa, Cusco, Huamanga, and Trujillowhich are necessary as input for developing pre-feasibility studies for the TCZs. These include: (1) Topography studies to be collected only in Cusco, and (2) Nature-Based Solutions related studies (Soil Mechanics, Hydrology, Biodiversity) to be collected in Cusco, Arequipa, Huamanga, and Trujillo.
