Tenders are invited for Project: Supporting the Development of the Use of Bamboo as an Alternative Material to Wood for House Construction in Madagascar Project: Support the Development of the Use of Bamboo as an Alternative Material to Wood for House Construction in Madagascar Closing Date: 31 Oct 2025 Type: Consultancy Themes: Disaster Management/Recovery and Reconstruction The detailed terms of reference for the consultancy can be obtained until 25 October 2025 by sending an email to [email protected] Specific objectives of consultancy: To demonstrate, through physical tests, the ability of the two prototypes of bamboo huts developed with the support of the AICRL to withstand natural disasters and in particular the strong winds caused by the passage of cyclones; Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of the constructions carried out by the carpenters under the supervision of the CRM technicians (without external assistance) and issue recommendations for improvement; Support the local team in the design and construction of storage spaces; Train 40 carpenters (20 in Antalaha district and 20 in Maroantsetra district) in bamboo hut construction techniques; Test the curing technique for the treatment of bamboo stubble.
