The City Of Essen Is Planning The New Central Library In Downtown Essen. The Property At Markt 5/6 In 45127 Essen Was Rented From The City Of Essen. An Area Of Around 10,000 Square Meters (Including Around 1,000 Square Meters Of The Basement) Is Available For Planning The New Central Library. The New Concept Of The Central Library Is Based On The City Of Essens Library Development Concept, Based On The Knowledge That Contemporary Libraries, In Addition To Their Actual Mission, Contribute Significantly To Strengthening Inner Cities In A Central Location As Engines Of Urban Development. Libraries Are Currently Changing Their Previous Profile With Great Momentum. In Addition To Offering A Wide Variety Of Media, Libraries Are Increasingly Becoming Low-Threshold Places To Stay And Hold Events And Become So-Called “Third Places”. The Project Task Is To Redesign The Central Library Of The City Of Essen: Interior Design And Furniture. With This Europe-Wide Open Procurement Process, The City Of Essen Intends To Award The “Room-In-Room Systems” In Dry Construction.
