Research And Development Services And Related Consultancy Services – Research Project - Dzsf - Defensive Measures For Rail Vehicles To Reduce Accidents With Wild Animals. The Fundamental Goal Of This Project Is To Help Reduce The Frequency And Severity Of Rail Vehicle Accidents Involving Animals, Especially Wild Animals, And To Reduce The Associated Operational Disruptions, Repairs And Costs. This Should Be Achieved Through An Optimized Use Of Suitable Defensive Measures, Which Requires Reliable Information On The Suitability Of Various Defensive Measures. These Will Be Developed In This Research Project. In Addition, Standards For Suitable Defensive Measures For Accident Scenarios Occurring On The Nationwide Route Network Should Be Developed In Order To Accelerate Planning Processes In The Future And To Take Suitable Measures Into Account At An Early Stage. There Should Be A Differentiated Look At Which Measures Are Suitable For The Existing Network And Which Measures Are Used In The New Building. To This End, This Research Project Aims To Investigate The Causal Relationships And Effects Of Wildlife Accidents Along Railway Lines. For The Types Of Accidents That Occur And Routes With An Accumulation Of Accidents, It Should Be Researched And Analyzed Which Measures Can Be Used And Developed To Avoid The Incidents. The Ecological And Economic Impacts Should Also Be Assessed And Possible Adjustments To The Rail Vehicles And Infrastructure Identified. Accidents And Collisions Between Rail Vehicles And Wild Animals Repeatedly Lead To Operational Disruptions And High Costs For Repairs To The Rail Transport Infrastructure And Rail Vehicles, As Well As To Delays And Train Cancellations. The Incidents Can Also Cause Trauma To Train Drivers. Several Different Types Of Defense Measures Have Already Been Tested (Inter)Nationally.
