The Project Deals With The Transformation Of The Former Town Hall In Horsens Into A New Joint House That Brings Together Attractive Functions, Including Library, Citizen Service And The Volunteer Center Horsens Sund By. The House Is Designed To Attract And Engage Visitors, Promote Meetings Between People, Support Communities Around Cultural Activities, Voluntary Social Purposes And Other Interests. Large Parts Of The Buildings Design Are Inspired By The Colorful And Playful Art Decoration Of Aase And Poul Gernes, Which Adorns The Building. Gernes Visual Language And Humorous Approach Will Continue To Play A Key Role In The Design Of The House, Which Must Also Be Reflected In Parts Of The Inventory. The Project Aims To Preserve And Integrate The History Of The Building At The Same Time As The Buildings Functionality Is Updated To The New Functions And Todays Needs. The Project Retains Several Elements From The Original Building Such As Bricks And Coatings That Are Integrated Into The New Design. This Ensures A Harmonious Fusion Of The Past And Present, Where Modern Design Meets The Historical Without Imitating It. The Majority Of The Houses Facilities And Functions, E.G. Meeting Rooms, Offered For Free Use Of The Citizens Of The Municipality. With The Expectation Of An Annual Visitor Number Of Approx. 300,000, A Robust And Solid Fixture Is Required That Can Withstand Much By Many. New Common House Opens To The Public In The Summer Of 2026.
