Location: Akkar Project Title: Food for Akkar Contact: careers@fairtradelebanon.org Date of Posting, if applicable: 9-10-2025 Deadline for Submission: 19-10-2025 1- Summary FTL is seeking a consultant to prepare and implement a sustainable business and operating plan for the Nursery located in Al-Owaynat in Akkar. 2- Objective The project aims to improve food security and socio-economic conditions in the Akkar region of Lebanon. It focuses on strengthening farmers production capacities and enhancing access to food and employment opportunities for vulnerable communities. The project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on zero hunger and decent work and economic growth. To design and operationalize a business model that ensures the nurserys financial sustainability, enhances its contribution to local farmers, and provides quality agricultural inputs. This contributes to improved food security, socio-economic empowerment, and job creation in Akkar. 3- Scope of Work The consultant will undertake the following tasks: a. Market Analysis Industry overview, demand trends. Target market segmentation (e.g., households, farmers, landscapers, municipalities) Competitor analysis Market trends and opportunities b. Organization and Management Ownership and governance structure Roles and responsibilities of staff Staffing plan and capacity needs c. Products and Services Seedling types (native, ornamental, houseplants, herbs, etc.) Other offerings (soil, tools, pots, fertilizers) Services (landscape design consultation, delivery, workshops) d. Marketing and Sales Strategies Branding and positioning Pricing and sales model (subsidized, cost=sharing, full-cost recovery) Promotion (social media, events, partnerships) Sales channels (in-store, online, wholesale, farmers, cooperatives) e. Operations Plan Site layout and infrastructure (greenhouses, irrigation) Daily operations and supply chain Input sourcing and inventory management. Pilot implementation of the proposed model. f. Financial Plan Cost structure and revenue projections Break-even analysis Pricing scenarios (subsidy phase -> cost-recovery) Funding requirements and potential finance streams g. Capacity Building and Training Conduct at least 3 training/coaching sessions for nursery staff depending on needs and vision Support staff in adopting new practices to ensure sustainability h.
