Work Detail
Tenders are invited for s2-Sw-06d: Solar and Heliospheric Weather Toolkit Development This activity will further extend the capabilities of both the Solar Weather Expert Service Centre and the Heliospheric Weather Expert Service Centre, building on high priority developments identified in the Expert Service Centres Definition and Development plans. The activity will start with an analysis of available solar event onset modelling techniques and their current maturity level, asseen in the context of space weather monitoring and forecasting. Targeted development will lead to a suite of solar event onset modelling capabilities which will be integrated into the SWE Network as a toolkit on a test and validation basis. The toolkit will utilise existing solar measurement data where applicable, and shall be integrated into the SWE Portal as part of the Space Weather Service Network, with the underpinning modelling capabilities being made available for integration into the Virtual Space Weather Modelling Centre. Recommendations for future solar event onset modelling development in support of SWE Services shall be produced followinga period of test and validation as part of the SWE Network. This activity shall further build on preliminary results of the P3-SWE-IV.2: Use of L5 Data in CME Propagation Models study and will include development of advanced tools to support forecasters in CME characterization and arrival time forecasting with the aim to reduce uncertainties and facilitate integration of multiple data sourcesand types. These shall be developed, tested and validated utilising current data sources in preparation for future utilisation of data from the Vigil mission when available. Recommendations and a roadmap for further development shall form part of this activity with the aim to ensure optimal utilisation of data from the Vigil mission when available. Forecaster training in use of the tools shall be included as part of the activity.Read more Tender Link : https://esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int/ESATenderActions/filter/open
