Tenders are invited for Provision of Assistive Devices, Prosthetics and Training for Persons with Disabilities in Central Equatoria State (Ces), South Sudan The BMZ-funded Project, entitled Multisectoral, Disability-inclusive Resilience Building for IDPs, Refugees, Returnees and their Host Communities in Central Equatoria State, seeks to strengthen the resilience of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and their host communities, including persons with disabilities (PwDs), in five counties of CES: Juba, Lainya, Yei, Morobo, and Kajo-Keji. The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through its executing agency, CBM Christoffel-Blindenmission (Christian Blind Mission e.V.). As part of the projects disability inclusion strategy, ACROSS, with funding from BMZ through CBM, intends to contract a service provider for the provision of assistive devices, prosthetics, and tailored training for executive members of organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) across the five target counties. The assistive devices will cover three main categories: wheelchairs, crutches, and white canes. These interventions are expected to enhance independence, mobility, and participation of persons with disabilities in social and community life. 2. Objectives of the Assignment The overall objective is to supply and deliver assistive devices, complemented by practical training and technical support, to strengthen the capacity of PwDs and their organizations in the five target counties. Specific objectives: 2 To supply 65 assistive devices and prosthetics and deliver them to ACROSS within three weeks. To train 65 persons with disabilities in Juba, Lainya, Yei, Morobo, and Kajo-Keji on the use, care, and maintenance of the assistive devices and prosthetics. To provide technical advice and ensure compliance with disability regulations by liaising with the National Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare and relevant technical specialists. 3. Scope of Work The service provider will: 1. Procurement and Supply Provide a total of 65 assistive devices, broken down as follows: 34 crutches (various sizes and types) 23 white canes (different lengths) 8 wheelchairs (different measurements) 2. Training of Beneficiaries Conduct training for 65 PwDs in the five target counties. Training will be organized as follows: Visually impaired beneficiaries: Use of white canes, orientation, and mobility training (per county). Wheelchair users: Training on proper handling, mobility, posture, and maintenance (per county). Crutch users: Training on safe and comfortable use, mobility, and device upkeep (per county). 3. Technical Collaboration and Guidance Liaise with physiotherapists and orthopaedic technicians from the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare to ensure proper fitting and technical quality. Collaborate with the Central Equatoria State Union of the Visually Impaired for guidance on training related to white cane usage. 3 4. Timeframe The assignment will run for 40 days from the date of contract signing, broken down as: 35 days for device provision and training, and 5 days for final reporting.
