Bids Submission From Tue, 30-Sep-2025 01:00 PM To Thu, 09-Oct-2025 03:00 PM The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at UAE University is establishing advanced surface analysis capabilities through the acquisition of a state-of-the-art X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS) from Japan. This sophisticated analytical instrument enables precise determination of surface chemical composition, electronic states, and chemical bonding information within the top 1-10 nanometers of materials surfaces. The system features a high-sensitivity hemispherical electron energy analyzer, scanning monochromatic Al K X-ray source, multi-channel detector, and advanced sample handling with automated features. The XPS also includes capabilities for Scanning X-ray Induced secondary electron imaging (SXI), sputter depth profiling, and dual-beam charge neutralization for insulating samples. This analytical capability directly supports cutting-edge research in materials science for mechanical and aerospace applications, including surface treatments, thin films, coatings, corrosion mechanisms, adhesion studies, and interface chemistry. The surface analysis facility will support fundamental research projects, graduate student work, and industry collaborations while providing essential capabilities for quality control and failure analysis in advanced materials development.
