This assignment is part of the wider GIZ-funded project Promoting Climate Resilience in Food Security in Jubaland, Somalia, implemented in partnership with NIRAS Germany GmbH. NIRAS, with over 40 years of global experience in agriculture, climate resilience, and institutional capacity building, provides technical leadership. The project runs from 15.03.2025 to 30.09.2026 and targets 700 farmers, including women, youth, IDPs, and persons with disabilities. It delivers five work packages: farmer training, provision of tractors and equipment, solar-powered irrigation, post-harvest solutions, and institutional capacity building for the Jubaland Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (JMoAI). The selected Supplier will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of the supplies. 2.1 Scope of work The general scope of work for the supplier of an irrigation scheme in Bulla Bartire, Hajiweyne, Qamqam, and Gobwayn, Kismayo District, Jubaland State of Somalia. This scope is a general guide and specific details, such as the scale of the project (e.g., coverage area) and the technology used (e.g., solarized pumping, rising main, water pan storage and gravity-fed pipelines), would be defined in a formal BoQ in excel and drawings as part of the tender document. Testing and Commissioning: Upon completion of installation, the supplier must perform thorough testing of the entire system to ensure it is functioning correctly and efficiently. This includes pressure testing, leak detection, and performance verification. 13. Training and Handover: The supplier is expected to train a project officer. This ensures the long-term sustainability of the project.
