    Tenders are invited for Aeolus-2 Rayleigh Spectrometer (RSP) of DWL Instrument. Open Date: 04/09/2025 17:11 CET Closing Date: 30/10/2025 13:00 CET Price Range: 500 KEURO The Aeolus-2 Programme was approved at the ESA Council meeting at Ministerial level in November 2022. Aeolus-2 is a collaborative programme with EUMETSAT for a series of two satellites, with a first launch in 2034 and the second five years later. The mission is an operational follow-on programme to the successful ESA Earth Explorer Aeolus mission. The primary objective of Aeolus-2 is to provide global observation of vertical wind profiles from the troposphere and lower stratosphere, using a Doppler Wind LIDAR (DWL) designed to measure doppler shifts in the backscatter of emitted laser light from molecules and aerosols in the atmosphere. DWL Instrument measures the winds speeds thanks to its two spectrometers: MSP and RSP. 1) the MSP (Mie Spectrometer) is based on a Fizeau interferometer, used to detect the UV laser beam backscattered from particles in the lower layers of the atmosphere, 2) the RSP (Rayleigh Spectrometer) is based on a Dual Edge Fabry-Pérot interferometer, used to detect backscattered light from the molecules in the higher layers of the atmosphere. In the frame of Aeolus-2 DWL Instrument, Airbus Defence and Space SAS will release, on 5th August, an Invitation To Tender for the procurement of Rayleigh Spectrometer (RSP). The bidders will have to consider 3 configurations, driven by the optical beam input diameter: 20 mm, 30 mm and 36 mm.
