The Descriptive Council Will Carry Out A Procurement For A New Offshore Operation To Investigate The Wreckage Of The Submarine U-864 Off The Coast Of Fedje. The Main Goal Is To Access A Limited Part Of The Keel On One Or Both Wreckage To Extract A Representative Number Of Mercury Containers And Assess Their Condition, As Well As Evaluate The Condition Of The Refrigeration Boxes Along As Much Of The Length Of The Wreck As Possible. This Is To Be Able To Plan Any Future Operations For Safe Removal Of Mercury. There Is Also A Need To Map The Depth Down To Solid Mountains In The Area Around The Wreckage. The Operation Will Require Expertise In Environmental Monitoring And In Excavation, Dredging And/Or Drilling In Polluted Sediments At Water Depth Corresponding To The Site (140-160 Meters).
