31 19 SITC of Hot Dip Galvanized Mast of mean height f 20m, raising lowering mast HM with nominal height and continuously tapered polygonal cross section [at least 20 sided]. The Mast structure should be pleasant in appearance & designed for suitable wind loads considering basic wind speed of 47 m/s. Mast will be designed considering a design life of 25 years. The mast sections shall be manufactured from M.S. sheets conforming to BSEN 10025, S355 J0 or equivalent, cut and folded to form a continuously tapered polygonal section. The welding shall comply IS 9595. Masts shall be delivered in three sections of approximately 10.35 m which shall be assembled at site by slip-stress-fit method. The minimum overlap distance shall be 1.5 times the diameter at penetration. There will be no circumferential welding in any section. No site welding or bolted joints in the mast sections will be allowed.\nThe Base plate without any laminations shall be welded to the bottom section of the mast. The welded joints will be fully penetrated and developed to the strengths of the respective sections. The Base plate shall be provided with supplementary gussets between the bolt holes to ensure elimination of helical stress development. Mast base section will have a lockable door of size 1200mm X 300mm for easy access to winch and power tool operations. Bottom of door shall be 500mm above the top of the base plate. All sections shall be hot dip galvanized as per IS:4759. The galvanization shall be done by single dip method for better aesthetic appearance. The mast shall have a top OAF of 250 mm and bottom OAF OF 540 mm. Thickness of bottom section shall be of 6 mm, top section shall be of 5 mm. Base plate shall be 740 mm and 32 mm thick.\nEach mast shall he 16 nos. of M30x850 mm foundation bolts which shall be cast in concrete using a template. The bolts shall have an anchor plate of 8 mm thickness for good anchorage Wind Loading. The Mast sections should be designed based on basic wind speed data as mentioned at 10m level as per IS 875, Part-III, 1987. The structural design of the mast shall comply with ILE TR 7 guidelines. The design life shall be a minimum of 25 years (for K1 factor). The foundation design shall be made by taking into considerations the following :\nSoil conditions\n 2. Loading on the mast as per ILE TR 7 and Basic wind speed as per IS 875.\n 3. Static load of the total mast structure.\n 2.0.4. Raising and Lowering Mechanism\n The high-mast shall have an optimally balanced system for raising and lowering of the Luminaries and control gear boxes for regular maintenance work. The same shall be provided by means of a double drum winch fixed at the base, 3 wire suspension wire rope system ( This system has 2 wire ropes of 8 mm diameter from Winch to compensating Disc and 3 wire ropes of 8 mm diameter from compensating disc to Lantern carriage.\nAccessories\n HEAD FRAME\n M.S. fabricated hot dip galvanized housing using IS2062 grade steel accommodating CA pulleys with stainless steel pins for the suspension of wire ropes and the electrical cables. Pulleys are grooved suitably to ensure that the wire ropes/cables do not get dislodged from their positions while raising / lowering. Self-lubricating bearings and stainless steel shaft shall be provided for smooth and maintenance free operation throughout the mast life.\n The head-frame shall be made in three compartments placed 120 degree apart for most optimum balancing of lantern carriage. Head frame shall have top canopy to protect the mast from entry of water / solid particles etc from the top.\n Top canopy shall have provision for fixing lightning arrestor of suitable design.\n LANTERN CARRIAGE\n A fabricated MS lantern carriage, which shall be hot dip galvanized shall be provided for mounting of luminaires. The luminaire arms/channels/bars shall be welded or bolted to the carriage as per bidder’s design. The lantern carriage shall be made of steel pipes. The flanges shall be jointed at site by stainless steel bolts and nuts. Inner side of the lantern carriage shall have a PVC guide ring to protect the mast surface while raising and lowering of the lantern carriage. The diameter of the lantern carriage shall be of size suitable to accommodate 24 LED light fittings in four tiers and for this double lantern ring will be required. The lantern ring should be fabricated with pipes/channels on the front and back side to get a flat mounting of the 24 LED luminaires. The length of the bars should be suitable to mount the LED luminaires as per bidder’s design.\n Note: Although Provision for 24 Luminaires, Only 20 Luminaires will be used in the project now. Space for future addition of 4 Luminaires is to be provided.\n The Double lantern carriage will have top ring at approximately 19.8 m and the second ring will be at approximately 18.3 m. The spacing of rings can be as per supplier design.\n SUSPENSION WIRES\n Three-wire suspension assembly shall be used for suspension of the lantern carriage system. Two wire ropes shall be used for connecting the compensating disc to the winch and three wire ropes shall be used to connect the lantern ring to the compensating disc The stainless steel wire rope as per AISI 316 and shall be having a nominal diameter of 8 mm.\nGrade. This shall be of 7x19 construction.\n Breaking load capacity of each wire rope shall not be less than 3500 kg with a factor of safety not less than 5.0.\n DOUBLE DRUM WINCH\n The double drum winch shall be completely self sustaining type without the need for brake shoe, springs and clutches. The winch shall have self lubrication mechanism by means of an oil bath. The gear ratio shall be 50:1 and safe working load capacity shall not be less than 1500 kg. The winch drums shall be grooved to ensure perfect seat for stable and tidy rope lay with no chances of slipping of ropes. The winch shall be a double gear and double drum winch. The rope termination in the winch shall be such that distortion or twisting is eliminated and at least 5 to 6 turns of rope remain on the drum even when the lantern carriage is at fully lowered position. It should be possible to operate the winch manually by a suitable handle or by an integral power tool.\nELECTRICAL HOIST CABLES\n The electric cable shall be EPR insulated and PCP sheathed as per IS 9968 and should be of size 5 core X 4 sq.mm, the cable shall be highly flexible for optimum design life . There shall be 2 nos. of trailing cables per mast so as to have 2 circuits. The trailing cables shall be provided with suitable 6 pin plug and socket. As there are 2 trailing cables there will 2 sets of plug and socket. For testing luminaires in lowered position receptacle shall be provided in the junction box.\n JUNCTION BOX \n 3 junction boxes shall be provided on the lantern carriage for connecting the luminaries and the trailing cables.\nPOWER TOOL\n A suitable high powered, electrically driven and electrically controlled, internally mounted power tool with manual over ride shall be provided for the raising and lowering of the lantern carriage. A handle for manual operations shall be provided as per standard practices.\n Power tool shall consist of 3-phase 415volts, 50 Hz, min. 3 HP motor. The power-tool shall have a torque limitor for protecting the wire rope system from over-loading.\n ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION BOARD AT THE BASE\n A suitable PVC/Hylam BOARD shall be provided at the base of the mast at door level. This will have an MCB of suitable rating for the lighting load of the mast. The MCB will terminate the in-coming supply cable and can be used as a local isolator during maintenance work.
