Request for Expression of Interest for Provision of Consultancy Services as Network Engineer for MarenThrough the Project MAREN has been resuscitated leading to employment of three full time staff namely the Chief Executive Officer the Chief Technical Officer and an Administrative Assistant To date the various building blocks for MAREN s core services international and national connectivity business support hardware and software and a network operations centre are in place and its data network is operational resulting in provision of Internet services to various institutions including College of Medicine Chancellor College Malawi Polytechnic Mzuzu University the Malawi University of Science and Technology Malawi Adventist University and National Herbarium and Botanical Gardens In view of this operationalisation of the data network and the building of value added services MAREN needs to setup up a team of engineers to support the network and clients It is against this background that the Project seeks services of a Network Engineer The Public Private Partnership Commission PPPC now invites eligible individuals Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the Services Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services The consultant shall be an individual with relevant qualifications and experience The shortlisting criteria shall be At least a Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications ICT Computer Science or related fields majoring in network engineering Those with related diplomas coupled with long term experience in planning deploying managing and supporting telecom systems will also be considered Applicants with first degrees should have at least 3 years relevant continuous work experience in a network and systems administration while those with diplomas should have at least 6 years of work experience in the telecom industryHands on experience in installing configuring and managing routing and switching equipment under Cisco Linux Unix networking and Windows systemsDemonstrate hands on experience and know how in network configuration and user supportDemonstrate network troubleshooting experience in a very busy environment
