Request For Expression Of Interest For Consultancy Services To Undertake A National Waste Characterization Study The Main Objective Of This Consultancy Is To Carry Out A Detailed Assessment Study Of The Waste And E Waste Material Flows And Characteristics Existing Waste Management Practices And Trends In Major Towns And Cities In Zambia The Study Will Provide Background Material And Strategic Guidance On The Roadmap Towards Sustainable Waste And E Waste Management In Zambia The Study Aims To I Achieve A Better Understanding Of Policy Legal And Institutional Arrangement Identify Gaps And Barriers To Sustainable Waste Management It Will Also Identify Areas Of Policy Intervention Ii Provide Baseline Information To Support The Development Of Well Founded City Specific Waste Management Action Plans For Surveyed Districts Which Will In Turn Serve As Template For Other Districts The Significance Of The Study Includes The Following I To Provide Direction On Policy Strategy Regulatory Interventions Socio Economic And Overall Direction Of Follow On Investments In Waste And E Waste Management And Ii Building Capacity In Modern Skills And Standard Methodology For Waste Characterization Wc Studies For Subsequent Studies By Zema And Selected Local Authorities The Scope Of The Assignment Will Consist Of Two Phases Namely I The Waste And E Waste Characterizations Study And Ii Capacity Building Programme For Stakeholders The Study Shall Include Generation Of Baseline Data For The Ongoing Waste Management In Zambia Including The Collection Of On The Ground Baseline Data On Waste Management Policy Legal Institutional Arrangements And Provide Initial Recommendations Towards Limiting Open Burning Of Waste In Zambia The Geographical Coverage Of The Study Will Be Nine 9 Provinces And Selected Municipalities As Will Be Informed By Literature Review The Capacity Building Programme Will Be Undertaken After Completion Of The Waste Characterization Study And Will Include Developing Protocols For Standard Methodology For Waste Characterization For Zambia And Conducting Training Programmes For Zema Ministry Of Local Government Ministry Of Water Development Sanitation And Environmental Protection Key Municipalities And Other Key Stakeholders The Shortlisting Criteria Includes I General Experience Of The Firm S In Offering Consulting Services Ii Evidence Showing The Technical Expertise Of The Firm In Carrying Out Similar Assignments Based On Past Historical Assignments For At Least 2 Or More Similar Assignments In The Past 5 Years Iii General Qualifications And Number Of Key Staff Iv Experience Of Working In A Similar Geographical Region AndV Evidence Showing The Managerial Capabilities Of The Firm
