Noaa Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory Needs To Purchasethree 3 Fluoroprobe Iii Algae Analysis And Chlorophyll Measurement Instruments The Fluoroprobe Is A Highly Sensitive Submersible Spectrofluorometer With Automatic Algae Class And Chlorophyll Analysis In Addition It Can Be Used In The Laboratory To Measure These Same Variables In Cultures Or Lake Water It Is A Unique In Situ Spectrofluorometer Which Provides Accurate Measurements Of Up To 5 Different Algae Classes And Total Chlorophyll In One Portable Unit The Fluoroprobe Quickly And Reliably Determines Chlorophyll Concentration Down To Depths Of 1000 Meters Making It An Ideal Instrument For Depth Profiling It Also Provides Cdom Gelbstoff Measurements With Uv Led The Measurements Can Be Displayed On Line Via A Serial Interface Or Stored In The Probe Internal Data Logger For Subsequent Analysis In Addition To Determining The Chlorophyll Content The Probe Also Detects The Presence Of Phytoplankton And Allocates Them To Various Spectral Algae Classes I E Blue Green Algae Cyanobacteria Green Algae Cryptophytae And Diatoms Dinoflagellates Chrysophytae The Fluorescence Of Algae Due To Excitation By Visible Light Mainly Depends On The Presence Of Chlorophyll A A Very Common Pigment In The Plant World The Occurrence Of Other Pigments Is Typical For Different Algae Classes Interactions Between These Different Pigment Systems With Chlorophyll A Results In A Special Excitation Spectrum For The Taxonimical Algae Classes The Special Patterns Of This Algae Fluorescence So Called Fingerprints Are Used In The Bbe Fluorometers For The Quantification Of Different Algae Classes The Excitation Light Sources Are Leds With Different Wavelengths Mostly Within The Visible Spectral Range The Fingerprints Of Four Algae Classes And Of Gelbstoff Are Already Stored In The Fluoroprobe Special User Defined Fingerprints For A Fifth Algae Class Can Also Be Added This Enables The Instrument To Analyze The Occurrence And Distribution Of Algae On Site Without The Necessity Of The Laboratory We Plan To Use It In Great Lakes In Situ Surveys To Spatially Determine Chlorophyll Cdom And Qualify And Quantify The Phytoplankton Classes Present See Attached Rfq For Additional Details And Specifications
