Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration And Sustainable EnergyThe Proposed Project Will Include The Following Components Component 1 Solar Pv Risk Mitigation Ctf Grant Us 4 Million Us 6 2 Million Ida Grant And Us 40 Million Miga Guarantee Will Provide Risk Mitigation Package To Private Sector Independent Power Producers Ipps To Cover Off Taker Risks Including Ppa Payments Delays And Termination Payments The Ipps Will Be Selected Through Open International Competitive Procurement Oicp To Install And Operate Solar Pv Generation Facilities This Component Is Expected To Cover Various Solar Pv Applications Including Rooftop Pv Land Based Pv And Floating Pv Across Various Islands Targeting About 36 Mw Of Installed Capacity As Per The Following Phase One 21 Mw Floating And Land Based Solar Pv In 7 8 Separate Electricity Island Grids Spread Across 6 Atolls Oicp Registration For Pq Application Submission Closed Phase Two 9 Mw Land Based Solar Pv In 10 To 12 Separate Electricity Island Grids Spread Across 3 Atolls Oicp Phase Three 6 Mw Land Based Solar Pv In Greater Male Region Oicp Component 2 Battery Energy Storage Systems Bess Us 23 Million Ctf Loan Will Support Deployment Of Bess In Selected Project Islands To Enable A High Penetration Of Solar Pv In The Power System While Ensuring Reliable Supply In A Cost Efficient Manner The Project Under Component 4 Will Support A Comprehensive Assessment Of Each Island Grid Where Solar Pv Ipps Are Invited And Determine Proper Solutions To Integrate Proposed Solar Pv Capacity In A Cost Efficient Manner The Component Targets To Support 50 Mwh Of Bess In The Selected Grid Systems Subject To Market Price The Bess Will Be Procured Through Open International Competitive Procurement Oicp To Design Supply Installation And Commission As Per The Following Packages Phase One Design Supply And Installation Commission Of Bess For Selected Outer Islands Indicative 40 Mwh Oicp Phase Two Design Supply And Installation Commission Of Bess For Greater Male Region Indicative 10 Mwh Oicp Component 3 Grid Modernization For Vre Integration Us 5 Million Canada Facility Loan Us 6 2 Million Ida Credit And Up To Approx Us 20 Million From Other Ifi Co Financing Will Support Grid Upgrading And Reinforcement To Accommodate An Increasing Volume Of Renewable Energy And Bess Especially For Longer Duration In Selected Grid Systems An Increasing Use Of Electric Vehicles Evs And The Need For Ev Charging Stations Are Expected To Pose Additional Challenges To The Power System These Activities Will Be Procured Mainly Through Oicp Component 4 Technical Assistance Us 3 Million Ctf Grant Will Provide Technical Assistance Ta Support To Be Implemented By The Me Through Its Pmu It Will Support The Following Areas Institutional Capacity Building Support And Training To The Me Stelco Fenaka And Other Relevant Stakeholders For Power System Planning Incorporating Renewable Energy Bess And Evs And Operating Improved Power Systems With Renewables Battery Storage Ems And Scada It Will Also Support Capacity Building To Strengthen A Policy And Regulatory Framework For Bess Risk Management These Activities Shall Be Mainly Procured Through International Competitive Procurement Icp Pipeline Development Covers Identification Of Appropriate Subproject Sites Feasibility Studies And Preparation Of Safeguard Instruments And Technical Advisory For The Tendering Process These Activities Shall Be Mainly Procured Through International Competitive Procurement Icp Other Sustainable Energy Development Sub Component Will Explore Renewable Energy Potential Beyond Solar Pv And Develop Sustainable Energy Sector But Not Limited To Policy And Regulatory Frameworks And System Planning For Scaling Up The Use Of Evs Feasibility Assessment And Roadmap For Ev Charging Stations Vehicle To Grid Technologies And Associated Infrastructure Feasibility Assessment Of Green Hydrogen For Energy Storage And Transportation Potential Energy Efficiency Policies And Engagement And Improving Financial Sustainability Of The Power Sector These Activities Shall Be Mainly Procured Through International Competitive Procurement Icp Project Management And Implementation Support Will Cover Hiring Consultants Necessary For The Pmu Functions Including Technical Experts Financial And Procurement Management Environmental And Social Safeguards As Well As Incremental Operating Expenses And Office Supplies These Activities Shall Be Mainly Procured Through National Procurement Ncp
