India GOI extends from time to time concessional credit facilities under the Indian Development and Economic Assistance Scheme IDEAS to overseas governments their nominated agencies in developing September to November The main dry season is from December to April with ashort cooler dry season from late July to early September Temperatures and humidity arehigh along the tropical coast In Cotonou the average maximum temperature is 31 C theminimum is 24 C Variations in temperature increase when moving north through savanna and plateautoward the Sahel A dry wind from the Sahara called fields 2 Project backgroundThe project involves the construction of a drinking water supply system and therehabilitation upgrading expansion of existing networks involving construction of 19 MultiVillage Drinking Water Supply Systems MVWSS in Benin There are 82 administrativevillages connected to the 19 MVWSS distributed in 07 Departments of Benin The overall objective of the project is to improve access to drinking water in rural areaswithin the framework of universal access to drinking water by 2030 Specifically the project aims among other things to i ensure access to an improved drinking water source for the beneficiary populations ii ensure continuous and sustainable availability of drinking water and iii ensure quality drinking water on a permanent basis For the purpose of execution the project is bifurcated into two lots with details as under Lot1 Construction of nine 9 MVWSS in the north of BeninLot2 Construction of ten 10 MVWSS in the South and Central BeninPart I capacities of the tanks shall range from 100 to 500m3 and height from 12 to 24 meters performance of all civil works namely soil tests calculation notes and executionplans excavations and reinforced concrete
