Sierra Leone Regional Rice Value Chain Development ProjectThe Main Objective Of The Project Is To Contribute To Reducing High Importation Rate Of Rice And Enhance Economic Growth Through Improved Production And Productivity In A Sustainable Manner Processing And Marketing The Project Will Also Increase Vertical And Horizontal Production By Adding New Irrigated Areas To The Existing Productive Ones And By Introducing An Array Of Institutional And Technical Interventions To Increase Productivity Specifically The Project Will I Support Government S Efforts To Substantially Increase The Production And Productivity Of Rice Using The Private Sector Value Chain Led Approach Ii Increase Smallholder Farmers Income And Reduce Poverty And Food Insecurity And Thus Iii Iii Improve The Livelihood Of The Rural Population Iv Create Commercial Opportunities For Targeted Rice Farmers With The Objective To Generate Access To Markets The Project Will Include The Following Four Components I Raising Rice Production And Productivity Ii Strengthening The Links To Markets Iii Fostering Enabling Policy And Institutional Environment And Iv Project Implementation And Coordination Support
