Against Women And Girls The Empowerment Of Women And The Achievement Of Equality Between Women And Men As Partners And Beneficiaries Of Development Human Rights Humanitarian Action And Peace And Security The Un Women Egypt Country Office Is Based In Cairo And Works In The Following Priority Areas Leadership And Political Participation Economic Empowerment Ending Violence Against Women Governance And National Planning Egypt Has A Progressive Constitution 2014 Recognizing Gender Equality And Non Discrimination Guarantees In March 2015 Egypt Launched Its Strategy For Sustainable Development Egypt Vision 2030 Sds Spanning The Economic Social And Environmental Dimensions Of Sustainable Development And Outlining The Broader Principles That Will Guide Egypt In Pursuing Its Developmental Goals Furthermore Cognizant Of WomenS Empowerment Being A Precondition For Inclusive Growth And Social Justice The 2030 National Strategy For WomenS Empowerment Nswe Was Launched And Endorsed By The President Of Egypt The Demand For Greater Support For Statistics Has Increased As Egypt Implements The Sustainable Development Goals Sdgs And Related National Strategies Egypt Produces A Wide Range Of Statistics And A Significant Amount Of Gender Data Are Available Through Censuses Population Based Surveys E G Labour Force Surveys Income And Expenditure Surveys Etc Or Administrative Data However Challenges Remain In Measuring And Tracking Progress Towards The Realisation Of The Gender Targets Set Out In The Sds And Nswe Furthermore Gender Data Including Both Data Disaggregated By Sex And Data Specifically Relevant To Women And Girls Is Necessary To Monitor And Track The 54 Gender Related Sdg Indicators Comprehensive And Periodic Statistics On The Status Of Women Men Girls And Boys Including Data Disaggregated By Sex And Other Socio Economic Characteristics Are Important For Setting Priorities Planning Interventions And Assessing Their Impacts While Ensuring That The Gender Perspective Is Integrated Into All Policy Areas In 2015 A Multi Agency Assessment Of The National Statistical System Nss Was Carried Out Focusing On Legal And Institutional Set Up And Statistical Processes Within Social And Economic Statistics The Main Objective Of The Assessment Was To Carry Out An Independent Evaluation Of The National Statistical System Of Egypt To Strengthen Co Ordination Of The National Statistical System And Align It With International Frameworks One Of The Recommendations Of The Assessment Of The Nss Focused Exclusively On Gender Statistics And Suggested The Central Agency For Public Mobilization And Statistics Capmas Should Work With The National Council For Women To Develop A Strategy For The Development Of Gender Statistics As Well As With Other National Partners To Ensure Harmonisation Of Methodologies Concepts And Definitions And Avoid Duplications In Efforts The Recommendation Also Focused On The Need To Consider Issues Of Coverage Capacity Building Resource Mobilisation Meeting User Needs And To Set A Vision For Gender Statistics In The Medium Term To Support Member States In Implementing The 2030 Agenda Un WomenS Flagship Programme Initiative Women Count Aims To Affect A Radical Shift In The Availability Accessibility And Use Of Data And Statistics On Key Aspects Of Gender Equality And WomenS Empowerment The Women Count Programme Works At The Global Regional And National Level Through Three Interlinked Areas Of Work Outcome 1 Building A Supportive Policy And Institutional Environment For The Localization And Effective Monitoring Of The Sdgs Outcome 2 Increasing The Quality Comparability And Regularity Of Gender Statistics To Address National Data Gaps And Meet Reporting Commitments Under The Sdgs And Outcome 3 Ensuring That Gender Statistics Are Accessible To Users In Governments Civil Society Academia And The Private Sector To Strengthen Adequate Demand For Their ProductionUnder The Guidance And The Direction Of The Gender Specialist The Consultant On Gender Statistics Will Be Responsible For Supporting The Effective Implementation Of The Women Count Project In Egypt She He Will Also Provide Technical Assistance And Capacity Development To Partners As Well As Support With Knowledge Management Km And Communication Efforts Duties And Responsibilities1 Provide Technical Assistance And Capacity Development To The Women Count Project Partners In Egypt Ensure That The Implementation Of The Women Count Project Follows Strict Quality Standards As Established Under The Fundamental Principles Of Official Statistics And The Principles Governing International Statistical Activities Support In Developing Project Annual Work Plans Awps And Assist In Their Implementation In Compliance With Approved Project Documents And Budgets Support In The Technical Implementation Of The Project Ensuring Synergies With Other Initiatives And Projects On Gender And Development Statistics Identify Capacity Development Needs Of Partners And Provide Technical Assistance Advisory Support And Capacity Development To Partners On Gender Statistics Including Strategic Direction And Positioning Of Gender Statistics In National Policies Plans And Strategies Produce And Disseminate Guidance Notes Tools And Methodologies On Gender Statistics And Provide Technical Inputs To Statistical Products Developed By Partners Build And Manage Relationships With National Partners And Other Key Stakeholders Including Un Agencies And Any Other Organizations Working On Gender Data Statistics To Support The Effective Implementation Of The Project And Contribute To The Monitoring Of EgyptS Gender Equality Commitments In The 2030 Agenda 2 Support With Knowledge Management Km And
