Tenders are invited for Supply of Type Ii Super Lattice Detector To develop and characterize an infrared detector based on the T2SL technology with cut-off >14.5um, focusing on the detection layerimprovement.DescriptionType-2 Super Lattice (T2SL) is recognised as the most promising alternative to MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride) for Infrared detector arrays. This material structure offers great flexibility on tailoring the bandgap (cut-off wavelength) to any desired detection wavelength in the infrared wavelength region. By individually varying the thickness and composition of the alternating layers in the lattice structure, detectors covering from short wave infrared (SWIR, 0.9 -1.7um) to very long wavelength infra-red (VLWIR, 10.5-16 um), can be manufactured. In the context of an ESA completed activity on the development of LowDark CurrentVLWIR T2SL infra-red detectors (T117-409MM), proofs of low dark current and high quantum efficiency were demonstrated. That activity focused on the optimisation of the photodetector material and made use of an off-the shelf Read-Out Integrated Circuit (ROIC). It has been followed-on with an activity (GT17-306MM)) focusing on the big format and the ROIC development: manufacturing and characterizing a 1Kx 1K, 10um pixel pitch infra-red detector array, based upon a custom ROIC, that is to be designed specifically for a high performance T2SL detection layer. That activity aims at developing a custom design ROIC compatible with both MWIR and LWIR T2SL detector layers. In this activity, the target is to capitalize on the results from the technology push as described above and focus on VLWIR (>14um cut-off) detectors. Few of the potential advantages of T2SL will be investigated further focusing on the improved performance of the detection layer and the road to develop a product of lower cost compared to technological demonstrators along with better uniformity and operability will be established. This activity encompasses the tasks:- Develop a complete design solution for a T2SL detector able to meet the requested electro-optical performances- Demonstrate a reliable process for producing theT2SL detector- Manufacture, test and deliver the T2SL detectors following the best design approach- Assess their main performances, by a thorough test campaign.- Propose refinements and/or improvements and the corresponding development plan in view of industrialisation for enabling the use of these technologies in future missionsRead more Tender Link : https://esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int/ESATenderActions/filter/open
