Tenders are invited for Engagement of a Public Relations (PR) Firm for Media Engagement for ChildFund Kenya Closing Date: 4 Dec 2025 Type: Consultancy Background ChildFund Kenya is a child-focused development organization committed to improving the well-being of children, families, and communities. The organization works through ChildFund Kenya works through 11 Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) across and does direct implementation in 2 program regions in Nairobi and Kisumu, reaching over 3.1m children and families experiencing various forms of deprivation, exclusion, and vulnerabilities across 28 counties in Kenya. These counties in which ChildFund Kenya operates include Nairobi, Kiambu, Muranga, Kajiado, Narok, Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo, Nakuru, Siaya, Busia, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nanyuki, Meru, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kilifi and Mombasa. ChildFund Kenya implements programs under the Education, Livelihoods & Humanitarian Sectors, and integrated with WASH as well as Sponsorship interventions. In FY25, the organization invested over US $10.4 million in programs designed to realize long-term, sustainable change for children and their families experiencing various forms of deprivation, exclusion, and vulnerabilities. Through its sponsorship programs and external grant funding, ChildFund Kenya has developed strong, long-standing partnerships with civil society organizations (CSOs), and collaborates closely with county and national government entities working in areas related to the well-being of children, youth, and women. These Terms of Reference (ToR) outline the scope and purpose of engaging a Public Relations (PR) firm to support the Country Office in strengthening media relations, enhancing visibility, and highlighting ChildFund Kenyas interventions and impact across the country. Rationale for Media Engagement ChildFund Kenya implements programs that create lasting change in the lives of children and their families. However, these achievements and lessons often remain within project areas or internal reports. Proactive engagement with media will help bridge this gap by: Enhancing visibility: Increasing national and regional awareness of ChildFund Kenyas work, mission, and impact. Strengthening advocacy: Amplifying the voices of children, families, and communities on issues affecting their well-being. Building public trust: Demonstrating transparency and accountability in how ChildFund and its partners deliver results. Attracting partnerships and support: Inspiring collaboration with government, donors, and private sector stakeholders. Shaping public discourse: Providing expert insights and thought leadership through op-eds, interviews, and feature stories. Through strategic and sustained media engagement, ChildFund Kenya aims to position itself as a leading voice for child protection and development in Kenya. Objective of the Assignment The objective of the assignment is to enhance ChildFund Kenyas visibility and public engagement through targeted and professional media relations, including: Coordinated coverage of ChildFund Kenya events and campaigns. Development and dissemination of press releases, op-eds, and feature articles. Coordination of radio and TV interviews for organizational representatives; and Strengthening relationships with national and regional media outlets. Scope of Work The PR firm will be expected to deliver the following services: a) Event Coverage and Media Engagement Coordinate media coverage for ChildFund Kenyas key events, and campaigns. b) Press Materials and Editorial Support Disseminate press releases, op-eds, and feature stories in coordination with ChildFund Kenyas Communications team. Ensure quality control and consistency with ChildFunds brand and communication guidelines. Secure placement of approved content in reputable national media outlets. c) Broadcast Media Coordination Identify opportunities for ChildFund Kenya representatives to participate in relevant radio and television interviews. d) Strategic Media Advisory Provide ongoing guidance on effective media engagement strategies and message positioning. Recommend suitable media platforms for increased visibility. Deliverables The firm/ Consultant will be expected to deliver: 4 TV interviews 4 radio interviews 6 opinion articles 8 event coverages including, Commissioning of the Kampi ya Samaki defluoridation, Maji Safi Nnaningoi, project launch Ujenzi Fiti, Tech Totos, and EMAJIC 8 press releases Monthly Media engagement reports summarize coverage, reach, and outcomes. A final report at the end of the engagement period, outlining achievements, lessons learned, and recommendations. Duration of the Assignment The contract period will be six (7) months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. Qualification and Experience of the Firm The selected firm must demonstrate: At least five (5) years of proven experience in public relations, media engagement, and communications. Strong working relationships with leading print, broadcast, and digital media outlets in Kenya. Proven experience supporting international NGOs, UN agencies, or development organizations. Strong writing, editing, and media placement skills. Availability of qualified personnel to handle content development, media coordination, and reporting. Reporting and Supervision The PR firm will report directly to the Communications Officer, ChildFund Kenya, and work in close coordination with the Country Office Communications team. Payment Terms The Consultant/ Organization shall provide ChildFund Kenya with periodic and final invoice statements in a form determined by ChildFund Kenya indicating services performed, expenses incurred, past payments made and any other information ChildFund Kenya shall reasonably request. The Consultant/ Organization shall provide a final invoice statement whenever requested by ChildFund Kenya up to thirty (30) days after the date set in this agreement. Links or attachments to past TV/radio interviews facilitated. Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience in media relations, public relations, corporate communications, and managing multi-media campaigns. Evidence of producing and placing TV and radio interviews, writing and publishing opinion pieces, and coordinating press releases.
