Since 2007, BSF has worked in more than 50 countries to bring knowledge and information to people in need. We provide access and resources that connect people to books and digital resources, expanding the reach of libraries, training facilitators in post-emergency situations, and addressing the needs of under-resourced communities. We create innovative cultural and learning spaces that allow those affected by crisis or precarity to learn, to play, to build communities. With over a decade of experience working in the field, Libraries Without Borders has developed innovative tools that expand access to information, education, and cultural resources, even in the most challenging situations. BSFs Ideas Box is a transformational mobile multimedia centre that can serve as a safe space for creativity, innovation, and healing. The Ideas Box, when properly equipped, has the potential to provide a wide range of support services encompassing holistic care for survivors and communities ranging from mental health services and psychosocial support to legal support, educational activities, and vocational training. BSF Ideas Cube both autonomous and ultra-portable, it works without an internet connection to provide access to information and learning even in the most remote locations. Roughly the size of a book, the Ideas Cube creates a wi-fi hotspot which the users can connect with their smartphones, tablets, or computers to access the thousands of educational and social resources for their training. BACKGROUND As part of the project "Resilience and Empowerment through Social Cohesion and Inclusion for Sustainable Prosperity," implemented in the Ouaddaï region in Eastern Chad, BSF is working alongside NRC, Al Barka, and CRASH to strengthen the resilience of young Sudanese refugees and host communities around the camps of Allacha, Metché, and Arkoum. The project focuses on strengthening community leadership, vocational training for youth (ages 15 - 25), psychosocial support, educational support, and legal assistance to equip beneficiaries with the skills and resources needed to transition toward sustainable livelihoods in a context of protracted crisis. In this framework, BSF contributes its expertise by creating educational and cultural spaces through the Ideas Box and adapted content. The project aims to install three Ideas Boxes in youth vocational training centers. In order to make those Ideas Box spaces truly welcoming and empowering for the young girls and women targeted in the project, BSF seeks to recruit a consultant for the Arabic translation and contextualization of the Ideas Box for Women program. The program is declined in 5 kits (each kit being composed of a pedagogical guide with activity sheets as well as onsite and offsite trainings) : Making the Ideas Box a safe space for girls and women Violence against girls and women Womens health Entrepreneurship and financial autonomy Female leadership Intervening in Chad and to the needs of both Chadian and Sudanese communities, BSF wants to adapt the modules of the Ideas Box for Womens contents and activities. OBJECTIVES OF THE MISSION In the framework of this mission, the consultant will have the following objectives: IDB 4 Women translation Two out of the five kits (Entrepreneurship and financial autonomy as well as Female leadership) require Arabic translation. This includes pedagogical guides, training programs, activity sheets and any kind of other resources highlighted during the analysis of context. This translation can be from French to Arabic or from English to Arabic. It can also include the mapping, translation and/or indexation of relevant digital contents (video, podcast, PDF, ...) to support the activities IDB 4 Women contextualization and analysis of the context After a review of the full existing program, an assessment of the relevance of the five kits will be provided Together with the BSF teams, an analysis on the needs in terms of adaptation (training, workshops, activity sheets, overall resources) will be made All the relevant resources from the five kits need to be adapted to the Chadian and Sudanese context, including if needed: Pedagogical guides for facilitators and activity sheets Onsite training programs Training and hand-over Once the adaptation has been made, a training will be given at the BSF staff who will then be in charge of implementing the IDB4W program The consultants mission is to bring her/his expertise in both the geographical context of the country and the thematic field of gender equality (women and girls empowerment, fight against gender-based violence, etc.). S/he will have to work on every component of the kits as agreed with the BSF team. METHODOLOGY The consultant will be managed by the HQ technical advisor and the Program Officer for Chad. A first meeting to launch the consultancy will take place at the start of the contract between the consultant and the BSF team. Key area of validation and precision of the deliverables will be jointly decided. DELIVERABLES At the end of the mission, the following deliverables are expected: Inception report and methodology Detailed work plan, timeline and data collection tools (optional) Mapping of relevant digital content Analysis of the relevance of the IDB 4 Women program for the Chadian/Sudanese context IDB 4 Women program translated and contextualized Hand-over report including training resources and evaluation tools to assess the relevance of the deliverables for the beneficiaries of the project MONITORING, QUALITY ASSURANCE, AND EVALUATION The quality of the consultancy will be assessed against criteria such as: relevance of methodology, alignment with objectives, accessibility and usability of deliverables, and inclusion/gender sensitivity. Indicators may include timely submission of deliverables, satisfaction of stakeholders, strengthened capacities (pre/post tests), and use of tools in the field. DURATION AND LOCATION The consultancy is to be carried out remotely, between the contract signing and the end of February 2026. It is estimated at eight (8) weeks : Week 1: Inception and methodology. Weeks 25: Drafting of deliverables. Weeks 67: Review and integration of feedback. Week 8: Finalization and restitution. However, the consultant is asked to provide BSF with a precise timeline. PROFILE REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Gender studies, International Relations, Psychology, Sociology Minimum of three years of professional experience working with the gender equality projects and/or protection projects. Have strong knowledge of the humanitarian context in Eastern Chad and Sudan Previous experiences in pedagogical engineering and training of trainers is a plus Fluent in English and Arabic or in French and Arabic. SELECTION CRITERIA Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Methodological relevance of the technical proposal 30 points. Linguistic and writing skills in Arabic for the context 30 points. Knowledge of humanitarian context and target audiences 30 points Pedagogical background and quality of samples provided 10 points Meeting the proposed budget is a mandatory requirement; applications that do not comply will be automatically rejected, regardless of the previous criteria.
