Tenders are invited for Thruster Orientation Mechanism (TOM) Each LISA TPS will consist of two TOMs, one primary and one redundant. Each TOM will support one HET. The purpose of the TOM is to adjust the orientation of the thruster to precisely align the direction of the force to the centre of mass of the Spacecraft in order to avoid generating disturbance torques when the Hall Effect Thruster is thrusting. This will allow for uncertainties in the position of the spacecraft centre of mass as the Xenon propellant is depleted during orbit raising. The TOM satisfies three main functions, which are to support the HET, to deploy and drive the thruster position, and to provide the necessary functional links between the HET, xenon flow controller and the spacecraft. The TOM enables a controlled angular movement of the HET about two orthogonal and independent axes. This commanded position is then held for thruster firing with the TOM actuators in an unpowered mode without back driving. Position control can be by step counting (if stepper motors are used), and absolute position sensors as well as physical end stops are needed The procurement of the TOM will be conducted in line with the ESA Best Practices for the Selection of Subcontractors by Prime Contractors in the frame of ESAs Major Procurements. Additional requirements on geo-return may be specified in the ITT data package.Read more Tender Link : https://esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int/nonEsaTenderActions/filter/open
