Majhgaon Medium Irrigation Project Has Been Conceived By Water Resource Department, Madhya Pradesh By Planning A Composite Dam Across Bada Nala (CCA 9900 Ha) About 1.3 Km East Of Village Narayanchua In Tehsil And Block Ajaigarh, District Panna. Since The Inherent 75% Dependable Yield Of Bada Nala Is Only 13.36 MCM, The Project Shall Augment The Storage By Utilizing Monsoon Flow Of River Ken To The Tune Of 92.44 MCM From The Allotted Share Of Ken Water To The State Of Madhya Pradesh. The Project Shall Thus Have A Gross Storage Capacity Of 112.62MCM And Shall Have A Live Storage Of 105.23 MCM After Accounting For The Dead Storage. The Water Allotted To The Project Is 95.71 MCM Of Which Allocation For Irrigation, Industrial And For Drinking Purpose Has Been Apportioned As 53.71 MCM, 40 MCM And 2.0 MCM. It Shall Provide Irrigation Facility To 9900 Ha In Its Own Command During Kharif To 2700 Ha, In Rabi 9900 Ha Of Which 1400 Ha Shall Be By Lift Irrigation. The Proposed Dam Site Is Located Near Village Narayanchua Across Bada Nala, A Right Bank Tributary Of Ken River. For Transfer Of Ken Water (38 Cumec) From Bariyarpur Pick-Up -Weir To The Proposed Storage Dam 6288m Long Water Conductor System Has Been Evolved Depending Upon The Topography To Be Encountered. The System Shall Have 2.8 Km Long Approach Channel To Create A Water Pool Before The Entry Into 1.8 Km Long 5m Diameter D-Shaped Tunnel Which Shall Be Followed By 1628 M Long Exit Channel Which Shall Join Majhgaon Reservoir At 179.94 Mamsl I.E. 2.56m Below The FRL Of Reservoir. As The HFL Of Ken River At The Head Works Is 194 Mamsl A High-Level Protection Bund With 6m Top Width Shall Be Aligned On Both Banks Of Approach Channel. The Approach Channel Shall Be Totally In Cutting. The Exit Channel Shall Also Be In Cutting For Most Of Its Length Except For Last 450 M Near The End Connecting With The Dam.
