Petronet LNG Ltd
Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL) has invited bids to lease out under-utilised storage tanks at its recently commissioned LNG import facility at Kochi in Kerala. The company operates Kochi LNG terminal with the capacity of the 5 million tonnes per annum at a sub-optimal 5% capacity because of a delay in laying of pipelines connecting the port to consumption centres in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. To make Kochi an economically viable proposition, Petronet has invited bids to lease out two liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks for two years. As per the notice inviting tender (NIT), Kochi LNG terminal has two LNG storage tanks of nearly 182,000 cubic meters gross capacity each and regasification facilities to regasify 5 million tonnes per annum LNG. PLL is the largest LNG importer in India. It owns and operates two world class LNG terminals in India with a combined capacity of 15 MMTPA. While the terminal at Dahej, in the state of Gujarat, has a capacity to import, store and regasify 10 MMTPA equivalent of LNG, the terminal at Kochi, in the state of Kerala, has a capacity of 5 MMTPA.
