Sanofi India has inked a pact with Suzlon Energy for a 2.1 megawatt windmill installation, to generate renewable power for captive consumption at its Ankleshwar manufacturing site. The Ankleshwar site - one of Sanofi's three good manufacturing practices, compliant manufacturing units in India - produces solid dose formulations and active pharma ingredients. Between its two facilities at Goa and Ankleshwar, Sanofi has the capacity to manufacture 8.5 billion tablets annually. Shailesh Ayyangar, managing director for India and vice-president for South Asia operations at Sanofi, said, "As a global healthcare leader, Sanofi believes that reducing our carbon footprint and using energy responsibly are part of our mission to help protect life on this planet,".
