Assam Will Soon Set Up A Gas-Based Thermal Power Plant; Which For The First Time Will Use 'Waste' Gas As Its Fuel. The Power Plant, Proposed To Be Set Up At Titabor In Jorhat District, Will Come Up At An Estimated Cost Of Rs 300 Crore And Would Be Commissioned In Next Two And Half Years Time. The Project Will Use The Associated Gas That Is Produced As A Byproduct During Drilling And Extraction Of Crude Oil. The Proposed Plant Would Require Around 70 Km Of Pipeline To Divert The Associated Gases From The Reserves To The Project Site.
